Almonds

The almond series represents the first of my paintings done with the arts and crafts movement in mind. The prairie style border is designed to represent rows of trees in an orchard, a common and comforting sight in the valley. The almond represents our agricultural heritage, and the orchards are an elegantly beautiful component of our environment. Chico is among the largest almond producing regions in the world. The beauty of the white blooming orchards brings tourists and supports our yearly California Nut Festival. Each of the three prints depicts a phase in the development of almonds, along with companion wildlife for the time of year.
