Grapes

The grape series was created to be ornamental rather than to tell a story. The series depicts three different grape varieties done in arts and crafts style. The borders depict grape leaves in a prairie style geometry. Grapes are important to our area with the Napa growing region one valley to the west of our southern Sacramento Valley. The slight geographic difference is important in terms of grape production. The Nape Valley climate is influenced by the San Francisco Bay and Pacific Ocean. The cooler nights allow a wider range of varieties to grow there. In the Chico area, the varieties are limited but some excellent wines are being produced and are growing in popularity.
